I'm not sure if replay by forum or e-mail is needed so here goes both Please help ASAP I have a business trip comming and need the USB ports working for my demonstrations. Important note - Under the Restore point interface of the OS the USB Root Controller works fine! (verified with a wireless dongle and a keyboard mouse set. I also tried reinstalling the Intel chipset drives but that faild to redefine the USB Root HUb controller. I tried to use the xHCI windows driver for USB3.0 but in that condition the software reports that "this computer does not meet the minimun requirements for installing this software" - The comuter has 2 USB3.0 device ports. I tried the Intel Device Driver Updated - no success in restoration of the USB Root Hub controller driver and setup. No external USB device works with this driver. I tried Device Manager - >delete the USB host controller (that is how the USB Root Hub is identified by "search for device changes" - As mentioned the system installs the wrong device driver for a "lowly USB hub controller and not a "Root" controller. I tried to fine the appropriate USB Root controller driver - to no avail.

This of course triggers a new forced windows update a few days later. My only way out was to use an old restore point where the USB hub root controller was working. As of a month ago approximately software updates particcularly Windows10 automatic forced updates are causing the USB Root Hub controller to become unidentified hardware in the device controller.
